Alejandra Cruz is from Morgan Hill, California and a 2013 Students Rising Above alumna. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor’s in Sociology and Chicanx Studies. While at UCSB she studied the violations of human rights during the dictatorship and recent social developments at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Universidad Alberto Hurtado in Santiago, Chile. For the past three years, she has been working in homelessness prevention in Santa Clara County by providing direct financial assistance and supportive services to stabilize families under financial distress.
