Fern Echevarria-Flores
Donor Gift Processing Specialist
Fern Echevarria-Flores (she/her) joins SRA as the Donor Gift Processing Specialist on the Development team. Fern has 7+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector, four of which have been exclusively dedicated to supporting organizations in their Finance, Fundraising, and Development departments. For the past decade-plus, she has called the San Francisco Bay Area her home.
Prior to joining SRA, Fern served as the Development Manager at Code2040, a nonprofit organization committed to breaking down structural barriers for Black and Latinx people in the innovation economy. During her time with the organization, she created the foundational infrastructure to support the growing Development Department, cultivated a diverse philanthropic community of individual and institutional donors, and re-imagined how to address racial inequality in the tech sector. Fern is the proud daughter of Mexican and Puerto Rican immigrants, a first-generation Latina, and CA born and raised. She is the first person in her immediate family to pursue higher education and holds BA degrees in Latino/a Ethnic Studies and Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts from San Francisco State University. Fern is incredibly passionate about equitable access to education and aims to live and work through social justice and racial equity lens. She looks forward to continuing to serve Bay Area students of color, advocating for racial & economic equity, and holistically supporting the Students Rising Above community. Outside of work, Fern can most likely be found meticulously planning out her weekly calendar of social events, enjoying cuddly naps with her rescue dog (Lucky), catching up on the latest celebrity gossip news, and/or organizing & cleaning every corner of her home!
