College and Career Advisor II

Melissa Castro was born and raised in Oakland, CA. Melissa graduated from the University of California, Davis with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish. While at UC Davis she worked very closely with the AB540 and Undocumented Student Center. In addition to serving as a Volunteer at the YOLO County Suicide Prevention Hotline. Where she gained experience on the importance of Mental Health and serving diverse individuals. Melissa recently graduated from Sacramento State with a Master’s in Career Counseling. As she transitions back to her hometown and joins Student Rising Above as a College and Career Advisor. She hopes to continue advocating and providing support/resources for first-generation, BIPOC, low-income, AB540 and Undocumented students.
