College and Career Advisor

Rachel Stafford was born in Japan then moved to the Bay Area at a young age. She is a 1st generation college student and attended San Francisco State University for both her undergraduate and graduate degree. She earned her MA in Education with an emphasis in Equity and Social Justice at the end of 2021. During her time in grad school, she volunteered in a program called ‘Step to College’, where she had the honor of teaching low-income underserved high school students. Rachel believes in the power of community building and was part of SF State’s first peer mentorship program titled the ‘Femtorship’, where she mentored 1st generation women of color in the Graduate Department of Education. Though she has spent the past 12 years teaching, she has always dreamed of working for a non-profit directly supporting students. In her spare time she enjoys hiking in the redwoods, cuddling with her dogs, and spending time with her grandmother.
