Tara Thomas

Grants Manager

Tara Thomas comes to SRA with over ten years of experience in higher education and nonprofits. Formerly, they worked as a grants manager at a Latinx youth tech workforce development nonprofit called Digital NEST. An investment in empowering youth to reach their college and career goals brings Tara to SRA. Tara has spent the last decade teaching in the Humanities Division at UC Santa Cruz and working with an educational nonprofit called the Dickens Project, where they now serve on the board. As part-time faculty in UCSC’s Oakes and Kresge Colleges, they continue to teach racial justice and college success courses to incoming freshmen. Tara holds an AA in Liberal Arts, a BA in English, and an MA and Ph.D. in Literature. When not working, Tara enjoys spending time with their golden retriever Circe, gardening, and hiking in the Santa Cruz Mountains they call home.
