Fern Echevarria-Flores
Development Lead II
Fern Echevarria-Flores possesses nearly a decade of professional work experience within the nonprofit sector. As the Development Lead II at SRA, Fern leverages her background in fundraising operations to bolster the organization’s Development & Communications department. Her work lies in fortifying prospect research, donor engagement & communications, and gift processing to further SRA’s bold mission.
Prior to her tenure at SRA, Fern has held the role of Development Manager at two Bay Area tech-education nonprofits, Code2040 and Hack the Hood. Her fundraising initiatives at both organizations were instrumental in advancing tech skill-building programs and providing crucial career navigation support for BIPOC youth within the innovation economy. Most notably, she helped cultivate a diverse community of philanthropic supporters and managed the operational functions of each organization’s Development departments.
She is an alumna of San Francisco State University, holding dual BA degrees in Latino/a Studies and Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts (BECA). Her dedication to justice and racial equity is deeply rooted in her background as the daughter of Mexican and Puerto Rican immigrants. As a first-generation Latina and college graduate, Fern’s commitment to ensuring equitable access to education aligns seamlessly with SRA’s mission, making it the perfect organization for her.
Beyond her professional work, Fern finds joy in curating themed dinner parties, exploring new podcasts, cozy naps, and channeling her penchant for organization by keeping her label maker busy with home organization projects.
