Please join us for Student Rising Above’s Virtual Fund their Future Celebration on Wednesday, September 2nd in place of our 17th Annual SRA Gala. This September 2nd, our event will not just be different than any other, it will be more crucial than any other. The COVID-19 health crisis has turned into a national education crisis that is widening the achievement gap between low-income, first-generation students and their peers.
SRA’s Virtual Fund their Future Celebration Event Details:
- Introduction to SRA Class of 2020 Rising College Freshmen
- SRA Alumni Remarks, Tyisha Higgins, Class of 2005, CSU San Francisco

Darnell Abraham
Darnell is pleased to partner with Students Rising Above this year! Currently playing George Washington in HAMILTON on the And Peggy Tour, Darnell’s professional performance background spans musical theater, soul music, R&B, and opera. As a result, he has been recognized by audiences and critics alike for his versatility in the theater and on the concert stage.
After completing his undergraduate studies in Southern California, Darnell earned his Master’s degree from the prestigious Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Beyond the stage, he is an advocate for students from low-income and underrepresented communities to ensure that they, too, have a fair chance to succeed in life.
Please join us virtually on September 2nd to support our students’ journey, celebrate our high school seniors, and fund their future. Additional event details and registration link to follow.
The Students Rising Above Fund their Future event and campaign raises funds to ensure SRA students’ educational journey is not derailed during this pandemic. While their circumstances and needs are changing daily, our dedication to supporting them remains the same, but we need your help.
